Care for the elderly in Northumberland.
A Christmas Message from Berenice Groves, Chair of the Trustees
“Thank you to all those who made our Centenary Year such a success!
This year marks my first as the Chair of Trustees, and I’m so grateful to have been at the centre of such a vibrant and energetic twelve months.
Our Centenary dinner, Summer Fete and Garden Party were superb occasions that were organised by our untiring volunteers and attended by many, all of whom were connected to our charity. The Centenary Wall hanging unveiling was a unique way to commemorate the centenary, and a chance to confirm our connection with the Corbridge community.
2018 has also been an excellent fundraising year, and our Community Respite Bed has been completely full throughout the last 12 months, has helped 29 local families and is now booked up until March 2019.
We are already planning fundraising events throughout 2019 and we have some wonderful ideas already.
As I write, we have just had our poignant Tree of Lights service, which gave our residents, staff and visitors the opportunity to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
I also want to emphasise how proud I am of our excellent reputation and the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of the Charlotte Straker staff.
Finally, I’d like to thank all those who have welcomed me so warmly and given me so much support in my first year as Chair of the Trustees. I am certainly looking forward to 2019!
With many thanks and best wishes to all our staff, supporters and volunteers for Christmas and the New Year.”
