Volunteering at Charlotte Straker

An increasing number of local people are volunteering to help with some of the day to day social activities of residents and patients within Charlotte Straker thus improving the quality of their lives. Volunteers can help in many different ways and support our residents:

  • In a practical way by befriending those with relatives far away, visiting weekly or fortnightly to help write letters, read, shop or just chat.
  • We need help to accompany some residents to social events outside of Charlotte Straker.
  • More volunteers are also needed to help with fundraising activities.

We will provide you with an information pack and included in this pack is an application form and details of the documents needed to enable us to request a DBS check for you (this replaces the CRB check).Once everything has been satisfactorily completed, a short induction will take place to ensure that we conform to the requirements of the regulatory bodies. We look forward to working with you to support our residents enabling them to get more out of life.If anyone has some free time on a regular basis and wishes to volunteer please contact Marilyn Hunter, our Registered Manager at Charlotte Straker (01434 633999) or email:

Celebrating our Volunteers!

Charlotte Straker is immensely grateful to our team of dedicated volunteers. We have created a series of short stories to celebrate our existing volunteers and the widely different work that they do.
