Merry Christmas from Marilyn Hunter (Registered Manager) and Claudia Ionita (Deputy Manager)

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our residents, their families, our wonderful staff and our volunteers.

We are really looking forward to spending Christmas at Charlotte Straker House, as it is always a special and exciting time of year. Our staff are currently very busy making sure that everything is ready for the Christmas season, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them ALL for their tremendous hard work and dedication throughout 2019. We are extremely proud of our staff team and know that every member goes above and beyond to provide an exceptional level of care and support to our residents and their families.

Thank you to you all and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.”

Christmas Message from Berenice Groves, Chair of the Trustees

“Merry Christmas to all our residents, staff, volunteers and supporters from the Charlotte Straker Project!

We have had a very busy and productive year, with many very successful fundraising events. Some of these included our Talk by Conrad Dickinson, our Charity Golf Day, our Summer Fete, the Race Night and Gin Tasting Evening and of course the Christmas Extravaganza. We are already planning our 2020 fundraising calendar – please watch this space.

This year our Community Respite Care Bed has remained a vital part of the community, with over 38 admissions throughout 2019. These respite residents stayed from one to two weeks, and the feedback has been 100% positive from both them and their families.

Every donation made this year, whether large or small, helps us to help our residents. With your generosity we were able to buy new equipment, new services and retain our respite care bed service through 2019. Each week the respite care bed costs £892 and is funded entirely through grants and donations from the local community.

As I write, we have just had our poignant Tree of Lights service, which gave our residents, staff and visitors the opportunity to celebrate the lives of their loved ones. It was especially touching to see the hearts hanging on our Memory Tree in remembrance of Alan A, Lily, Jill, Mary, Ken M, Billy, Iona, Ken I and Alan H who sadly passed away this year at Charlotte Straker House. We send love to their families.

Finally, I also want to emphasise how proud I am of the dedication, commitment and enthusiasm of Marilyn, Claudia and their fantastic team of staff. Many thanks to you all and I look forward to seeing you over the Christmas period.

On behalf of all of the Charlotte Straker Trustees, I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year.”
