Terms specific to Local Authority funded residents

Top-up fee arrangements for Local Authority funded residents:

If your Local Authority assess you and agree they will assist you with the payment of your fees, please be aware Charlotte Straker’s gross weekly room fee exceeds the amount paid by the Local Authority.  Therefore a third party contribution or ‘Top Up’ payment will be needed to meet the full cost of care provided  As a guide, if you have assets in excess of £23,250 you will have to meet the full cost yourself (refer to page 5 of CS Application for Admission).

Fees are collected monthly by Standing Order on the 1st of the month (in advance).  If you are eligible for funded nursing care, an amount will be paid by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group specifically for the nursing element of your care.

NHS Continuing Health Care (CHC Funding)

If your care needs increase significantly, you may be assessed by the local NHS as eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding. This is paid when a person develops significant ongoing healthcare needs. In Northumberland this is paid directly to Charlotte Straker Project by Northumberland County Council by arrangement with Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group as a residential fee and a Funded Nursing Care fee combined. You will note that this fee is significantly lower than the actual cost of care to CSP. However, apart from a change in financial payment arrangements your care will continue to be provided in your usual room without any change.

Reservations

If a room is available, and a resident requests this to be reserved for their later admission, residents will be asked to pay room fees from the date the room is reserved. If there is any delay in the move, then we will review these arrangements and ensure that we act in a fair manner to you.
