Care for the elderly in Northumberland.
It’s essential that we explain to our supporters how important it is for them to fill in gift aid for when they make a donation.
Recently, the two “syringe drivers” at Charlotte Straker House needed to be replaced. A syringe driver is a vital piece of equipment that helps delivers medication at a constant rate. It’s sometimes called a continuous subcutaneous infusion and enables our nurses to deliver treatment to those who find it dfficult to swallow or absorb medicines properly. The driver is quite a complex piece of equipment and has an inbuilt computer that calculates the rate at which the prescribed medications should be given and displays this on a computer screen. The syringes need to be annually calibrated and tested and replaced as soon as it shows any sign of deterioration.
The gift aid raised on donations during 2019 made it possible for our manager to buy two new syringe drivers – with a total cost of over £2,000. They are key items for the health and well being of our residents.
Thank you VERY much to those who filled in the forms to allow us to claim gift aid on your donations during 2019!
