Our aim at Charlotte Straker is to provide person-centred care and treatment, based on an assessment of individual needs and which reflects personal preferences. Our admissions policy enables us to admit elderly people who are resident in Northumberland whose care needs we can meet. In addition, we are able to admit elderly people who live outside Northumberland but whose relatives live in Tynedale.

We offer 24-hour personal support to those with a condition that requires nursing care and have qualified registered nurses providing round the clock expert nursing care. Rooms are all ensuite and comfortable and with many of our rooms benefiting from overhead hoist tracking should the resident not be mobile.

When we have respite availability or new rooms available, pre admission assessments will assist us to develop a bespoke care plan, to meet the needs and wishes of new residents to the home with dedicated support from our Care and Nursing staff, individual activities and delicious meals created by our Head Chef.

As part of the process of moving in, we talk to each resident and their family to get a clear and detailed view of each residents’ needs, hobbies, interests, former career and favourite foods and nutritional needs. This helps us to not only provide the best possible care for each resident, but also to see each resident as a person. By preserving dignity, respecting independence and promoting life enjoyment, we help to create a real sense of home.

Please note: Charlotte Straker House is an open facility and we are therefore unable to accept residents with dementia where their cognitive ability means that they require a secure facility to support their safety or, where their dementia may mean that living in an open facility causes them or, others living within the service distress.
