Our brand new awning

Thanks to a grant by the WG Edwards foundation and fundraising by our dedicated staff a retractable awning has been installed above our decking so that our residents can enjoy being outside, whatever the weather. So far, we’ve used it every single day that the sun has made an appearance, for dominoes afternoons, tapas and sangria, coffee and chatting and listening to music. It’s made a big difference to our outside area – thank you to the WG Edwards foundation and all those who helped fundraise for this new installation

The Hex Pistols came to sing!

Thank you to the ladies from the Hex Pistols capella group who visited us for an afternoon of heavenly harmonies! They sang songs from the 1930s up to the present day, putting their own twist on all the music and inspiring our residents to clap, sing and even dance along. Thank you to Ali, Elisabeth, Kate and Lesley for performing for us all – it was a wonderfully entertaining afternoon.

A peaceful walk along the riverbank

We had a lovely peaceful walk along the river at Prudhoe this month, enjoying the warm weather and the occasional glimpse of the sun! The path beside the river is very straight and flat, perfect for wheelchairs and is a favourite of our residents. Christine said “I’ve really enjoyed this afternoon” and Margaret added “it’s nice to get out after all the torrential rain”. Afterwards everyone enjoyed lunch at the Riverside Café – a special shout out for their homemade coleslaw – Christine said it was the best she’s ever tasted!

Fundraising for a brand new fountain!

We’re over the moon to announce that thanks to all the staff that took part in last year’s sponsored walk, we’ve been able to install a beautiful new stone fountain in our garden!

We’ve installed the sandstone fountain next to our decking area and our residents are already enjoying sitting in the sunshine and listening to the sound of the trickling water. They’ve told us that they find it really relaxing and very pretty to look at. We’re hoping for more sunshine so that we can sit outside and enjoy it again!

We’re so grateful to everyone who did the sponsored walk and to those who donated.

The photo shows Gill, Alice, Jayne, Karen and Angela – who all took part in last year’s sponsored walk
